Our two-hour Permit Prep Classroom gives first-time drivers structured, instructor-led preparation for the South Carolina permit knowledge test. Students review traffic laws, road signs, right-of-way rules, and essential safe-driving concepts in a clear and supportive classroom environment.
After the classroom, students will take the permit knowledge test at Advantage Driving. Students who pass will receive a successful test receipt to take to an SCDMV branch, along with the required identification documents, to have their learner’s permit issued.

How it works
Step 1 - Attend the Classroom

Take the South Carolina permit knowledge test at Advantage Driving immediately following the classroom.

Does the $60 price include the permit test?
Yes. Registration includes the two-hour Permit Prep Classroom and one permit knowledge-test attempt immediately following the class.
How old must a student be?
Students must be at least 15 years old to qualify for a South Carolina beginner’s permit. Please review the current SCDMV eligibility requirements before registering.
Will I receive my permit at Advantage Driving?
No. Students who pass receive a successful test receipt. The student must take that receipt and all required identification documents to an SCDMV branch to have the learner’s permit issued.
Is passing guaranteed?
No. The classroom provides structured preparation, but each student must successfully pass the permit knowledge test.
Should students study before attending?
Yes. Students should review the South Carolina Driver’s Manual before class. The classroom reinforces important concepts and helps students better understand the material.
